ARTS International 2023 - Road Trips

ENTRY DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS:   Friday, June 9, 2023

 The substrate must not exceed the maximum size set forth in the prospectus. Be sure to read the prospectus carefully, as the acceptable size of the substrate changes depending on the gallery/museum edge.

 2-Dimensional Size: Maximum size not to exceed 1,200 square inches (unframed).

Example: 30” height x 40” width = 1,200 sq. in. (7722 centimeters)

Paintings must be created on one singular flat substrate. The artwork is to be framed and wired for hanging. Multiples are unacceptable – i.e., diptychs, triptychs.

  • All two-dimensional or bas-relief wall pieces must be “ready to hang” on the hanging system. Appropriate poles or other support props must be provided by the artist.

 3-Dimensional Size: Maximum size not to exceed 75 pounds and must be able to be handled by one to two people.

  • All sculptural pieces must be ready for floor or pedestal placement.

 Maximum entries three (3).

 Artwork must have been created within the last three (3) years.

 Each submission must be original in concept and execution: the reference, the drawing, the concept, and must have been self-created.

  • Copyright infringement of any kind is unacceptable. It is unethical and against ARTS’ policy for artists to submit work created from another person’s drawing/painting/photo or other artwork. Purchased reference material that transfers copyright to the artist is unacceptable. All artworks must be the artist’s original concept and design.
  • The artist must draw and/or paint the image on the substrate.
  • Artwork created in an instructional setting, including workshops and art classes, is not considered original artwork. Any artwork created from a group photo shoot set-up by another artist is not considered original artwork. Paintings created in an open studio where artists share the model are acceptable, provided there was no instruction of any kind.
  • The images submitted must accurately represent the artwork.

 The artist retains copyright to his/her image(s). However, accepted images do become part of ARTS’ archives and may be used for ARTS’ promotional purposes.

 All work must be for sale. No NFS. Any work entered that does not reflect the artist’s current pricing structure may be disqualified from the competition.

 The artist will give a 40% donation to ARTS on any accepted artwork sold in the exhibition. This includes accepted artwork sold outside of the exhibit while the work is included in the exhibition or is a result of the exhibit.
